At Baobab College we offer an extensive sporting and cultural programme, which begins with our youngest students in ELC and is accessible throughout the Primary School years. We encourage healthy competition while providing opportunities for each child to learn new skills, build confidence and cultivate their interests and talents.
Our extra-curricular afternoon programme begins in Year One, although swimming and ballet are also offered to our Early Years classes. Weekly participation in house activities from Year One to Year Four is expected. Here the students develop a sense of camaraderie through a variety of creative and sporting activities.
We also offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities to suit the interests of every student. We encourage children to have a go at new experiences, which could range from sewing to Chongololo Club, from cookery to drama club.
The physical development of our students is diligently monitored, beginning from our ELC classes. Here, we not only encourage their active participation in gross motor skill activities, but also instill in them a sense of curiosity and interest in various sports. As they progress through the school, we understand the importance of nurturing this early interest as it can lead to exceptional athletic ability, positive sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle. Our curriculum includes weekly PE and swimming lessons during class time, aimed at promoting overall fitness and teaching the essential skills of different sports throughout the academic year. To further cultivate their talents, we offer afternoon sports activities that allow students to advance their skills in their preferred sports. Sports offered at different times of the year include cricket, basketball, football, netball, swimming, cross-country, athletics and hockey. Gymnastics, karate and tennis are also popular choices as part of our extra-curricular programme.
Baobab takes great pride in offering a diverse range of sporting and afternoon activities that allow our students to develop their talents both on and off the sports field. We believe that participating in sports and other extracurricular activities not only promotes physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle but also helps our students to cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership and perseverance. We are committed to providing our students with a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their interests, try new things, and ultimately grow into well-rounded individuals. We strive to foster a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that prepares our students for success both in and out of the classroom.
